Three-Dimensional Scan

In transvaginal ultrasound scan, the photo slice of the female pelvic organs especially the uterus is from the front to back. In order to see the side to side view of the uterus, a three-dimensional view of the uterus is required. As three-dimensional view of the uterus (Coronal- view) is not obtainable directly by the machine therefore the ultrasonic scan machine needs to reconstruct this image; that is why it is called 3D reconstructed view.

This view of the uterine cavity is very useful to diagnose or rule out uterine malformation. This method can also be used for assessments of the tubes and ovaries. Uterine malformation is usually diagnosed during investigations for infertility and miscarriage.
