Early Pregnancy Scan

Early pregnancy can be defined as the first three months of pregnancy. In early pregnancy scan, we try to find the location, number and the viability of the pregnancy. Transvaginal ultrasound scan is much more accurate and perhaps safer than abdominal ultrasound scan in the first 9 weeks of pregnancy. As there is always a risk of a pregnancy outside the womb (ectopic Pregnancy) the diagnosis of which is much more accurate by transvaginal rather than abdominal scanning.

After five weeks of pregnancy, we should be able to see sac of pregnancy inside the womb and approximately at six weeks and a half we should be able to see a foetal heart pulsation. The number of the sacs of pregnancies can also be checked after five weeks of the pregnancy.
