Hysteroscopy

Hysteroscopy is a procedure, in which surgeon looks into the cavity of the womb by a telescopic camera. This is to assess the cavity of the womb for the presence of any abnormality including polyps, fibroids and cancer of the lining. When confirmed, surgeon removes the lesion at the same time. In hysteroscopy, biopsy can be taken from the lining of the womb to diagnose any abnormalities. Any biopsy, polyps or fibroids which are removed, will be sent to pathology where the doctor will look under the microscope to make sure that the lesions are benign.
