ICSI

This is when woman injects on a daily basis medication that stimulates the growth of the follicles (fluid-filled sacs that contain eggs)

takes about 12 days where the growth of the follicles is monitored by ultrasound scans

A procedure which takes place after two weeks of stimulation; this is done under sedation. It usually takes about 10-15 minutes. The recovery is fairly quick. You may feel some mild discomfort after the procedure which oftentimes resolves after a couple of days.

On the day of the egg collection, your partner will give us semen. Eggs are fertilized by sperms which are put next to the eggs; this is called conventional IVF. If the counts and motility of the sperms are not good, embryologist inject the sperms into the eggs, this is called ICSI (Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection) which is a form of IVF by injecting the sperms into the eggs.

Depending on your condition, you may have a fresh embryo transfer usually between 3 to 5 days after the egg collection. Most often embryos are frozen and transferred back to the uterus after one period, this is called frozen embryo transfer.
